The Food Additives Scanner app may use camera input, OCR (optical character recognition), translation, and interpretation to extract additives from labels. These technologies can make errors.
Common limitations include:
- poor lighting, glare, blur, curved packaging, or low-contrast print,
- partial/obstructed ingredient lists,
- language ambiguity and regional naming differences,
- missing punctuation or formatting that affects parsing,
- similar-looking characters (e.g., “E300” vs “E800”).
You must always verify results against the original label. The app output should be treated as assistance, not a definitive reading of the label.
5) Allergens and Dietary Restrictions
The Services are not designed to provide reliable allergen detection or guarantees for dietary requirements (e.g., gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan, kosher, halal, low-FODMAP).
Always rely on:
- legally required allergen statements,
- manufacturer confirmations,
